Curly Koa Wood

While I like to work with various different types of wood and other materials, there are a few that I keep coming back to and offer on various pen styles.

Koa wood is only found in Hawaii, which adds to it's exotic appeal.  While the majority of the koa wood is relatively plain, there are certain pieces that demonstrate the special 'curl' figure that is so beautiful and sought after.  The best stuff has an almost holographic effect that you have to see in person to really appriciate.

This is the stuff that I seek to find.  The challenge is that it's sometimes difficult to tell exactly what the finished product will look like until it's polished up.  Some of my pens will have moderate amounts of curl, others will have an extreme amount.  No two are exactly the same.

I will tell you this - if you see a pen you love with curly koa, don't wait on it.  The next one might not be quite the same.  I'm currently offering curly koa on at least 6 pen styles.
