Bethlehem olive wood is our signature material and most popular. Find out why...
Olive wood is a beautiful and deeply meaningful wood. Imported directly from Israel, olive trees can be thousands of years old. Because of the pruning process, trees are able to survive for long periods of time while yielding some 'pruned' wood available to craftsmen such as myself.
All of the olive wood I use comes from the area in and around the ancient city of Bethlehem. This location has deep significance for both Jewish and Christian traditions. Bethlehem features prominently in the biblical story of Ruth, is the hometown of King David and perhaps most significantly, was the birthplace of Jesus.
While we can't know precisely where each tree grew, given the location and age of many of these trees, it is a real possibility that Jesus could have seen and passed the tree that this wood grew from!
This beautiful wood is available in several different pens and other handcrafted items. Each one is made by me personally from a raw piece of wood to a wonderful finished product. Because of the beautiful grain and colors in olive wood, these are a great gift for just about anyone. I've had people seek these out frequently as gifts for pastors as well as gifts for Christians and Jews at various occasions.
My personal favorites - as well as those of many of my customers - is the magnetic cap rollerball in a dark, durable metal plating. These pens have the added 'wow factor' of the cap attaching to either end with a strong internal magnet, holding the cap in place where you want it. These are also some of the best writing pens you will find anywhere. Here are two different styles - click on the pictures to go to the listing to purchase online.
